It was said that “the past is a foreign country” – come with us, then, on a little trip to the foreign country that was Sheffield in the late 1960s. A time of mods and rockers, of hope for a brighter, more modern future: the realisation of Harold Wilsonʼs “white heat of the technological revolution.” Sheffield has never wallowed in nostalgia – it has always changed – but letʼs indulge ourselves for a moment to look back at the city in the late 60s. Hard times for some, but fondly remembered by many. Mick Jonesʼ photographs will touch your heart and make you wonder over what came to be and what we lost on the way.
